I really dug The New York Times’ piece on David Karp and Tumblr. Check it out.
Five of my favorite Tumblrs with original content:
Described as “dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman.”
There has never been a single post that I haven’t liked and not wanted to share. It is perfect in every way. I used to read Garfield books as a kid. This is the continuation of that, but better.
Eject (Kelly Oxford)
I’ll admit, I’m a Kelly Oxford groupie. Her Twitter feed makes my life better. Her Tumblr takes you beyond her 140 characters and into the working mind of a professional writer.
So angry. So funny. So desperate. So clearly the steam valve on the tea pot of some guy just trying to survive each day.
I can’t remember where I stumbled upon this gem about a young (now former, sadly) teacher, and the funny things her students say (said) and do (did).
Charming – that’s the word I’d use for it. She’s a total stranger, but she made her world feel quaint and inviting.
Molly Young, a New York-based writer, makes my day better when she decides to post. She feels comfortable: safe, funny and original.
